When you just about give up...you get a ton of bites

Well,
I was just about to pronounce myself a loser ( not being able to find work, feeling pretty down about myself), then this week came.

Talent Agency-
Audition with Joey Hunter (Man who discovered Jennifer Connelly and Brooke Shields)
It was definitely a fun experience. But as soon as the model agency said they won't accept anyone into their agency (they take 20% of your earnings) until they went through the Barbizon modeling program first (which costs $2000), I decided I wasn't going to do it. But the audition was good experience/practice, because I hadn't ever done the runway before. So after the interview I was called up by the agency. They said they wanted me. I told them I could not do it because they had classes on Sunday. They called back again saying they could change things and make a special one-on-one program for me. Then the guy explained that I was joey's "choice" and in Joey's words, I had the potential to be a "super star" (made me wonder how many people they just tell that to). So they wanted me to join (honestly I never know what to believe from people). I told them even with changing classes, I was not in the position to pay 2000 for modeling/acting lessons. The guy called back again asking me to ask my parents for the money, he told me to explain to them this was a huge opportunity.  I chuckled to myself and told him I am a grown woman and have a husband, we are trying to make it on our own and I'm not going to beg for money from my parents. Then he called back again asking me if there was any relative or grandparent that was willing to sponsor me....wow, I didn't expect them to be so persistent. The other modeling agency didn't bother me again when I said no because of travel and communication problems. I don't know if I'll ever get anything but I'll keep trying on the side (just in case something pops up).

Care.com-
I actually got 4 people that want to interview with me. I said no to 2 people straight up because they are inner city paying 5 dollars and hour for more than one kid. I have an interview with one tonight, we'll see how they like me (this one has a little baby boy who I would be watching during the day all week, not weekends).

Women's gym (Momentum)-
I used to work in Momentum's "Mini-Mo", which is sort of like a daycare. But it actually has mini exercise classes for the older children, I loved doing those. So I applied again and they want to set up an interview. Pay is minimum wage, however, so it is not my first choice.

First Temp Agency-
There is a Temp Secretarial job at the Harrisburg School District Elementary opening up. It will be for 4-6 weeks, from 8AM-4PM Monday to Friday. The Temp agency called me up to ask if I'd be interested before sending in my resume. Hopefully they like it.

Bankok Wok- I am working at our family friend's restaurant busing tables while I'm in between jobs so we have cash for groceries.

Things will be fine. I know heavenly father is watching out for Scott and I. Things will happen on his time table, I just gotta be patient.

Lovely Day

It was a very good Saturday! Started the day off with an interview (I've been putsin' around the Modeling/Acting industry, testing the waters and learning a little bit about it). This interview was fun! I got to walk the runway in front of quite a few people and be judged by the man who discovered Brooke Shields and Jennifer Connelly. Twaz cool.

The real fun was that Scott and I got to go to the DC temple with my parents and grandma. It was a really nice trip.

After all the sessions

After the temple we went to get  something to eat at the same country buffet that we took my bridal party to the day of my wedding.  It was absolutely packed! So we had to skip out and drive a little more to find another place to eat. We finally found this hickish diner type pub thing called Chubby's. Everyone got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich except me. I decided to go super hick and get the fried catfish, it's actually on my bucket list of things to try. Definitely won't be ordering that again, but I can cross it off my list :-). It was so fun.

Scott stuffing his face...as always :-)

My fried catfish, definitely an acquired taste. LOVED the cornbread!!!!
I love my daddy! Thanks for the trip and food dad!

Haha! Love this!

PS. Thanks to those who suggested care.com, I already got a few contacts. Hopefully something works out. :-D

Stuck in Limbo

So Scott and I are stuck in Limbo it seems. Our apartment lease is up the end of February. Then Scott and I move into my parent's house for a little while until we figure our where to move (what school Scott will be going to). I'm feeling a little impatient because it is taking so long, but that's life. The job search on my end is not going too well either, so I'm  a  little antsy about that.
Next weekend we plan on going to Punxutawny for groundhogs day with my parents. I am so excited! We will be in Gobbler's Nob and actually see Phil :-) I'm such a Pennsyltucky hick. It will be nice getting away for a little.

Sushi Night!

I was so happy to get a sushi kit for Christmas, I couldn't wait to use it! So I planned a dinner for my parents and grandma. I have been wanting to make them a nice dinner for a while. So I decorated the house like a restaurant, all fancy and stuff. We even played some Japanese music and we all got dressed up all nice.

We even had our own little menu

That is "Lootbear" in the bottle. Don't worry, non-alcoholic.

The crew

Here are some of the rolls we made (we were all stuffed at the end)

I Love my grandma!

For dessert we of course had fondu (strawberries dipped in dark chocolate), thanks to my mom. And of course everyone had a fortune cookie. :-)

My parents are such fantastic people. My dad is renovating their house and it is looking absolutely fantastic. He's always been good at that type of thing.

I love spending time with my family.

Well that didn't last long

So I called up the PA bakery to find out my work schedule and she told me I would basically just be getting my hours on the weekends, which is not what we had discussed. I was under the impression I would be working part time during the week in the evenings. I didn't know she planned on me working part time only weekends. I had told her I had already made plans for the next three weekends and she told me that if I don't come in on Saturday then I should just not come back because that was basically what I would be working (Fridays and Saturdays)...wow, she didn't even hire me officially. Just called me up the night before she needed help and asked me to come in the next day. Didn't talk to me, just threw me in there to work and left without telling me any schedule. I guess she wanted someone who would just come in whenever she needed them. That's not gonna work. So I'm back to job searching.

New Job

Well I got the job at the PA bakery. It isn't full time, so I'm hoping I get enough hours in. I start training tomorrow. Scott is still working at PHEAA, poor guy. But the starting line of the next chapter of our life is soooo close. We can hang in there for a little longer. I'm so excited to figure out where Scott is going to school and move. But I'm sad because my family is here.

I'm loving having time to catch up on projects I've been wanting to do. I got my art room finally set up and running and I love being able to have time to cook meals for Scott.

Farm Show and Macaroni Grill Date

This weekend Scott took me to the Farm Show (It's a tradition for my family to go every year).

The potato sculptures were darling! I wanted this one to win

Butter Sculpture

heheheh, this is a bunny. Totally looks like a dog. And it's huge!

HUGE Rabit
This is the type of bunny I want (Rex). THE fluffiest and softest.

The food was amazing, but pretty pricey. I probably wouldn't have gone, except we had a gift card. So glad we went! It was so delicious!

We entertained ourselves by creating an masterpiece of artwork on the table while waiting for our food. That drink  next to Scott was amazing too, it was blood orange lemonade. :-) MMMM
