10/26/13 Ward Halloween party/Trunk or Treat!

So Saturday was the ward Halloween Party/Trunk or Treat/Chili Cook-off
Scott and I signed up to bring cornbread, thinking it wasn't part of the competition (just to go with the Chili). But apparently it was a competition. We won second place cornbread! Haha, got ourselves candy, a ladle, and a certificate......it was made from a mix...and with extra butter...shhhhh

10/25/13

So work was the usual today. But after work Scott took me on a lovely date. We went to the Horse Expo, and walked around for a bit and watched some of the competitions.

Then we ate at Famous Dave's, which was amazing! I got a salmon pineapple platter and Scott got rib tips and chicken. My part of the meal (about 14 dollars worth) ended up being free because the cook put the wrong sauce on the salmon and had to restart so it was about 7 mins late. I didn't even complain, the chef and manager came out and apologized then bought my meal for me! :-)

Celebrity Serve Fundraiser

So we will most likely hear back from the appraiser on monday...hopefully. I'm hoping all goes well...

Life has been going alright, our landlord finally agreed to let us out of December but we have to pay the full November and be out by the 24th (week before thanksgiving). Bleh. So hoping to find a place to stay by then.

Scott's been trekkin' along with Law School. One of his classes is having there finals the end of November right before Thanksgiving. So that's comin' up here pretty soon.

Last Sunday we had a lovely dinner with one of the couples from our church that is attending law school here. It was nice to go hang out and make friends.

Thursday night United Way had their fundraising event at Lazy Toad (restaurant/bar). The Campaign Ambassadors (what I am) all dressed up as "celebrities" and waited on tables, a percentage of the proceeds and all of the tips went to United Ways. Hence why they called it "Celebrity Serve". Scott even came to support me and I got to serve him, so that was fun. My favorite thing that happened that night was a little boy, probably about 4 years old, came up to me with a few cents and "tipped me" because he liked my costume. I later found out from his mom that he had saved up in his piggy bank to donate at this even. It was adorable!

So I just quickly put this one together, but I want to do a pic like this for the united way and instead of saying "We Can Do It!" It will say "Live United!".

Halloween Party!

So the JRC (a law society with the law students in our church) had a Halloween party friday night. Scott and I once again had to find cheap easy costumes and decided to be the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost from "Rise of the Guardians":

It was super easy and simple. All we had to get for Scott's costume was the white hair spray. And for mine: Green and blue hair spray, Green and blue feathers, wings (which were only like 99 cents at Walmart), and Green and Pink Face paint. Super simple, easy and cheap!

All I did was stick the feathers in my hair after I spray painted it and they stuck! The ones toward the front I had to use bobby pins. I would've done a ton more feathers, but I didn't have much time after work (we would've been super late for the party)

Chillin' at the party

After the party, He's so handsome!

I thought this was a neat affect my hair did after taking it down.

Hangin' In there

It's been a while so here's a little update on recent events:
So General Conference was so good. I had been feeling extremely low but felt more peace after General Conference. Scott and I were only able to watch the Sunday sessions so far because we had to fix our car on Saturday. My car had died Friday right as I was about to head to work. Friday, surprisingly, ended up being a pretty fun day because my co-worker picked me up for work and that day we had our Frito-Lay tour. I got to eat Nacho Doritos (and more) warm and right off the line! They were amazing!!!
So yeah, Scott figured out what was wrong with our car (fuel pump), purchased the part and installed it himself. He saved us a ton of money because we would've had to tow the car, pay for the part and the labor. He's such a handyman! :-) And we really appreciate our ward here, one of the members lent us their car for Saturday so I could go get groceries and we could pick up the equipment we needed to fix the car.

So after much negotiation, mostly on our part, they accepted our offer on the house. We are just waiting to see what the appraiser says, which will determine if the bank will lend us the money or not. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Monday night 10/14, Scott and I finished carving our Halloween pumpkin for FHE, you can view it on my MilkandHoney blog: http://ginnymaemilkandhoney.blogspot.com/p/crafting.html

We also found this amazing festive holiday drink at Aldi's:
Pumpkin Cider is going to be a tradition now, it is soooo tasty!

Home hunting

So as ya'll know we are in an annoying situation with our landlord and the chain smoking leaking into our apartment. I feel ill all the time now. I've been waking up early randomly and vomiting, last time it wasn't even anything, just dry heaving. No fun. I wouldn't mind all this if it were a side affect of being pregnant, but sadly I am not pregnant. I was never one to throw up, in fact I think I could count on one hand how many times I did in my whole life before I came here. Since moving here it's been way more frequent. ...I know, TMI.

So after much thought and going over our finances we've decided to house hunt, like actually purchase a home. Crazy right!? Only if we find a good deal though. We've been looking for the past month and working hard to get everything together. We finally found 2 we loved, one was sold and the other we are going to make an offer but apparently someone else is bidding on it as well. Hopefully our offer is good enough. :-/ If not we might not have a place for Christmas/we have to live in smoke for another 2 months/ or we will have to sign another lease with another apartment. So yeah, life has been stressful.

Scott's laptop he was using for school died this week. Like totally crashed, we took it in to the school computer techs and they couldn't fix it. So yeah, now we need to buy a new computer.

So yeah. Life has been fun.
