Lots of Things

So lots of things happened since our last post:

Scott and I were able to visit my family in PA for a while, for my sister (Julies') wedding.

It was a fun day but I was completely exhausted at the end!!! Congrats to the happy couple!

 In between the hecticness of the wedding, etc. We hung out at my parent's house, went swimming, and chatted.

 Oh yes, and the day before the wedding we celebrated Stacey and Mom's birthdays. 

Finally able to use the "Maternity" parking spot!!! :-)

 Scott and I had a wonderful date at Bankok Wok, a restaurant  I was craving all my pregnancy but is only found in PA. 

 My last full day in PA, my sister (Stacey) and aunt (Deb) threw me a cute lil' babyshower. It was fun to celebrate with the family (Dr. Suesse themed!)

Hangin in there

Hey all!

I believe it is about time I did another update on this thinger.

So a lot of things are going on/have gone on in Scott's and my life right now:

1. We have a baby boy on the way. He will be here Oct 14th-ish or around then. It's getting closer and closer and we both are getting more and more excited. It's also very fun because a lot of our friends are pregnant as well and due around the same time or a few months after.

2. Scott finished up his first year at lawschool, but sadly did not meet the GPA requirement to continue and was released from the law program. He did petition to be re-accepted  but was denied. Things like this are very hard and disappointing to go through, especially since Scott seemed to enjoy law so much. But we will make it through this rough spot and it's not the end of the world. If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be. Scott is now exploring other career paths and education, like possibly going for his MBA. He also had an interview last week with Payless in their marketing department (utilizing some of the writing/marketing background he has from undergrad), so here's hoping! :-) Scott has a strong desire to provide for our growing family, and he's also been working very hard to make our home livable and comfortable. I am grateful I have such a great man for my husband, and love sharing the adventures life brings with him.

3. Loving my new position as Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. As much as I like my job, I'm still hoping to eventually get to the point where I can be a full time mom/ maybe just work part time.

4. My sister Julie is getting married August 2nd! I'm so very happy for her and Justin. We leave next week for the Pennsylvania wedding......doubling as vacation for us. :-)

5. Now that we have a kitchen, I've been enjoying it very much. We are able to invite people over for dinner now, and bake more. The other day I made strawberry freezer jam.

6. Our garden has been a hassle, with the bunnies and squirrels and birds trying to eat it all. We had to put nets over it all to protect our produce, but now birds get caught in the netting and we have to save at least one a day. But the netting works, and we are now getting some produce:

7. We had a fun 4th of July this year. Scott and I decided to tie dye t-shirts this year for the 4th and invited a few of our friends over to join us. We had a lot of fun :-)

 For fourth of July breakfast we had "Red, White, and Blue Crepes".

 Our Decor...2 flags, maybe we'll accumulate some more festive decor in the years to come.

The day after the 4th we also set off some of our own fireworks and did some sparklers.

Had a great day at the pool with my hubby. After swimming, we took a walk around the rose gardens, then a nice nap and relaxing evening. I never used to be able to take naps but now I need them, since I don't sleep well at night with Mr. Kicks alot.

Happy Fathers Day!

This weekend was nice, we got stuff done and had a little fun as well. I did spend some time outside so I'm covered in masquito bites and I'm thinking that's why I felt ill today.

Friday Scott and I did our errands, grocery shopping, etc.  Scott also got our back lawn finally mowed (with our FREE lawn mower :-) ) and we picked up like a million sticks! Still have millions more to pick up.

Saturday Scott helped a family in our ward move and I caught up on laundry and house chores. Then we celebrated fathers day a little early when he came home.

I wanted to get him a good hammer for fathers day, but he didn't find any at home depot, so he's going to try online. Poor guy keeps smashing his fingers and got a really nasty blood blister.

So we went to a Froyo place called Orange Leaf, sooo yummy. Then we got ourselves some water toys/spray guns and had a blast running around our yard soaking each other.

I worked on my gardens a little bit more (I really need to weed them now):

I'm not done laying the bricks in the middle, I plan on digging them into the ground more....just ran out of energy

One half is my herb garden....the cilantro and green chives already died :-(

My vegetable garden (Thanks Scott for building me the long planter box, the square one was already in the yard, we just drug it over where I wanted it.) We have tomato thieves living in our yard, we keep finding the ones that were growing missing...then find them half eaten on the other side of the yard. We might have to put a net up.....

So great news! We FINALLY got the counter tops ordered. So we just need to save up for the sink and a dishwasher (eventually) and wait for the stuff to arrive and we are pretty much to the point we'll have a kitchen again!!!! 

Not so good news, we realized the half bath floor was rotting. So Scott went in to see what he could do to fix it....and the floor fell out (into our downstairs bathroom):

So Scott had to temporarily patch the ceiling while he works on the half bath. 

....I feel like I'm living in a construction Zone....but good things come with patience right? :-)
